  • Kurssilla syvennytään Second Life –virtuaalimaailman käyttöön käytännön opetus- ja koulutustyössä. Second Life –ympäristö nähdään kurssilla välineenä ja pääpaino on tämän ympäristön tehokkaassa ja tarkoituksenmukaisessa hyödyntämisessä. Kurssilla painotetaan henkilökohtaisen tuen ja ohjauksen merkitystä sekä ryhmässä oppimista ja ryhmältä oppimista. Kurssille on varattu aikaa osallistujien kahdenkeskiseen ohjaukseen ja  projektien toteuttamisen tukemiseen ja arvioimiseen.
  • Målsättning: att ge studerandena kunskaper i särskilda egenskaper av och tjänster på den interaktiva webben; att ge insikter i informationsspecialistens roll i användning av den interaktiva webben; att presentera s.k. webb 2.0 verktyg och ge grundläggande färdigheter i användningen av dem; att ge studerandena kunskap om eventuella cyberhot som kan finnas i de nya sociala tjänsterna på webben; att ge studerandena insikter om möjliga framtidsbilder i webbens utveckling

    Innehåll: Bibliotek 2.0 / Webb 2.0; bloggar, RSS-flöden; wiki; sociala nätverk på webben; presentationsverktyg och -teknik; virtuella 3D världar; cyberhot

  • Goals: to give the students knowledge about features of services on the social web, to give knowledge about an informationspecialists role in use of the social web, to present so called web 2.0 tools and to give skills in using them, to give knowledge about potential cyber threats that can be present in social web services, to present possible views of future development of the web

    Content: Library 2.0 / Web 2.0, blogs, RSS-feeds, wiki, online social networks, virtual 3D worlds, cyber threats

    Level: intermediate

  • Aim: To give insights into the structure of the web and to how this structure can be used as a source of information. To present link analysis methodology for information science and social science research. To demonstrate how relationships between different organizations and areas can be analyzed and visualized. To present tools and methods for data collection, analysis, visualization and interpretation.

    Contents: Structure of the web; link topology; link analysis; web links; webometrics; web crawlers;
    search engines; information visualization

    Aim: to give insights in the usability principles for digital information environments; to give knowledge about the use of virtual/digital media in different organizations; to give the students knowledge about how information behaviour and interaction in information processes can affect design of systems, information architecture and media selections.

    Contents: management of information processing in virtual/digital information environments; (enterprise level) information architecture; information interaction; webometrics; usability principles; information behaviour and digital information systems.

  • Database construction, 5 ECTS credits, autumn 2007

    Aim: To gather, evaluate, organize and bibliographically describe material belonging to a certain field, and to give knowledge about database principles and design of databases.

    Contents: The course teaches the basics of databases and the SQL-language, datamodelling, data structuring, interface and report design, and the basic implementation of database applications for network use.
